32nd Annual Kingswood Rummage

This is the 33rd year for the Kingswood Rummage Sales and this neighborhood event keeps growing every year! Because so many rummages open on Tuesday or Wednesday each year, the 2011 dates and times that will be advertised are Tuesday, April 26 through Friday, April 29, 8:00 am - 9:00 pm and Saturday, April 30, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. Even though we advertise Tue-Sat, you may be open whatever days you choose. Please indicate the dates and times your sale will be open on the registration form. Our shoppers from out-of-town have asked that our sales be open as advertised. Please don’t list that you will be open Thu-Sat and then open on Tuesday instead, or be closed when you stated you would be open, or sell items you listed before you open.

If you are planning to have a sale, we encourage you to register. Last year there were about 500 rummages during the Kingswood weekend, however, only 330 homes registered. The fee is only $10.00, which allows you to be included in the listing and include information on what you have for sale (up to 30 words). For $3.00 more, you can place up to 60 words. The $10.00 fee is a real bargain compared to what it would cost you to place your own ads in newspapers. Thousands of people go to our website and print off the listing. The committee raises money for advertising the sales in two ways - the registration fee, as well as business ads that we sell and are inserted into the packet that was delivered to you. We advertise in most of the East River SD newspapers, as well as SW Minnesota and NW Iowa. In 2010, approximately $3,000was spent on advertising the Kingswood Rummages.

If you are interested in serving hot food, please contact the City of Sioux Falls (367-8760) for city guidelines and to obtain a permit application. No permit is needed to sell pop, popcorn, candy or baked goods.

We receive requests from individuals and groups who are interested in renting a garage in the Kingswood area during the event – either to set up a garage sale or a concession stand. If you are interested in renting out your garage, please contact us as soon as possible. If we receive any requests, we will put you in contact with the interested party.

In order to be included in the listing, please return your registration form and payment no later than Friday, April 15. The listing of all the sales will be available on our website -- www.kingswoodrummage.com -- on Friday, April 22.
